While artificial intelligence may be all the rage, the research on successful teams suggests another form of intelligence might give organizations a more significant competitive advantage. Collective intelligence is a group's ability to solve problems together effectively, and it can serve as a useful predictor for a team's future performance. Harnessing collective intelligence isn't about picking the best or smartest individual performers. In fact, successful teams are those with the most team players: employee-owners effective at collaborating with others. If your organization wants to apply practical methods for facilitating better collaboration and create a culture that puts the development and learning of employee-owners first, this is the session for you.
This session will help employee-owners identify and model the prosocial skills that encourage more widespread participation and psychological safety on teams. We will also walk attendees through group discussions that demonstrate the barriers to collective intelligence, which, it turns out, might be us! The session will close by examining SRC Holdings' approach to transparency, education, and high involvement before asking groups to identify the principles or strategies that would immediately elevate the collective intelligence at their own organizations.
There's nothing artificial about it! Put your people and their development first, and together, they will create an authentic competitive advantage that would be difficult for any competitor to match.
Identify and model the prosocial skills that lift your teams, leaders, and culture into what Amy Edmondson calls the "Learning Zone," where high organizational standards and high psychological safety meet.
Create an education strategy like SRC Holdings' open-book management approach that gives teams the tools to make better decisions and prioritizes the development and learning of every employee-owner.
Develop group norms and implement systems of decision making that leverage the collective intelligence of teams by encouraging collaboration, more widespread involvement, and the sharing of ideas.
