When people think about a coaching leader, they often envision an athletic head coach shouting plays from the sidelines. In a work setting, they might think about teaching or training employees to complete a task properly. But coaching isn't telling, teaching, or mentoring, it's a distinct skill that empowers others to take full ownership of their performance and growth. When done effectively, coaching leaders can more deeply engage their teams and colleagues by activating their problem-solving abilities and building a culture of ownership at all levels of the organization.
Facilitated by two professional leadership coaches, this interactive session will shatter the myths about the leader as coach and teach you the true essence of becoming a coaching leader. During the session, you will receive an actionable coaching framework and then immediately practice the new approach with your fellow employee-owners. You’ll walk away from this session with a new understanding of leadership and coaching, and with new tools that you can immediately apply in your own workplace. Coaching is an approach you can apply during brainstorming sessions, one-on-ones, career conversations, and performance reviews. This high-value session is appropriate for all levels of the organization, including both managers and non-managers.
Learning Objectives:
Understand the differences between training, mentoring, and coaching and the benefits of each approach.
Learn a coaching framework you can use to coach anyone at any level of the organization, even if you don’t have a management title.
Receive immediate feedback on your new coaching skills from fellow participants so you are ready to apply the skills in your own workplace.
