In 2025, DSG implemented a series of ESOP plan amendments—framed internally as “Enhancements”—that significantly impacted the employee ownership experience. These changes included immediate plan entry for new hires, extended diversification options, and a more generous distribution policy. While technically sound and legally compliant (and aligned with our sustainability study), the success of these enhancements hinged on one critical factor: how they were communicated to the employee-owners who would be the ones actually experiencing them.
This session explores how DSG’s communications team, in partnership with HR, executive leadership, and the employee ownership committee, transformed complex plan changes into clear, empowering messages that resonated with employee-owners at every stage of their journey. By framing the enhancements through the lens of the employee-owner lifecycle—from pre-hire and onboarding to retirement—we ensured that each individual could understand not just what changed, but why each change mattered to them personally.
